The history of kiwi cycles.

Recent history of kiwi cycles

We* moved out of the show room due to having it closed during the week while working in the workshop. We are still here, working hard and building new projects as fast as we can.

Gidday,

I am a kiwi mechanic with over 30 years experience in the two wheeled world

From speedway bikes to super bikes, moped to moultons,

Harleys to hardly's

I have worked on them all.

But my passion is steel fixed wheel bicycles.

Kiwi cycles came about from a love of simplicity and practicality.

I have worked for Many top named producers of all things two wheeled,

but all things come down to Practicality and aesthetics, a single speed bike is just that.

I build singlespeed and fixed gear bikes using pre-tested frames

and selected parts, then we customize them to match our customers' needs

and budget. Handlebars, bar tape, brakes, levers, saddle, wheel size, tyres,

guards, racks and bells; they are all interchangeable to suit,

its about building your bike for you, this makes your bike unique a one off & something to be proud of.

Check out the bikes on the for sale and sold pages for examples of what can be done

I believe that quality frames and parts retain their quality even after years of service.

A nice lugged or butted steel frame has a ride quality that must be experienced to be appreciated.

The fixed gear drive train offers unparalleled efficiency and simplicity for the urban rider and commuter.

Singlespeed bikes, with a freewheel, may be more appropriate for your commute.

I build to your requirements fixed, freewheel or geared, road, mountain bike or hybrid you decide, be as hardcore as you want, or as utilitarian. It's your bike!

*WE= me it looks better than a ton of I's throught the website.  Note that I am working alone 90% of the time, answering calls, fixing punctures carrying out services, taking photo, updating the website making or modifying parts and serving the tea and trying to pay the bills. A true one man band.

Just incase your interested my wife ( who happens to be a princess!)  lives in a hut without electicity in Ghana in a remote village within the volta region where we have a small cocoa plantation, store and food stall.
